Overview

The Village of Scottsville is a charming location in the Town of Wheatland, steeped in history. It offers residents the enjoyment of living in a modern community which has the utmost respect for its past. In fact, Scottsville is the site of the first town ever settled west of the Genesee River in the late 1700's. Examples of 19th-century architecture can be found in the village, as well as modern homes, townhouses and apartments.


Who Lives Here

Village residents like the small-town feel of Scottsville. With the library and schools located within the village limits, it’s a great place for families to live. Residents can relax in Canawaugus Park, or enjoy the views from the banks of Oatka Creek.


Essentials

There is a market in the village, a few hair salons, restaurants, a coffee shop and other local businesses. When residents desire more than the village has to offer, there are plenty of options available in neighboring towns or the City of Rochester, less than half an hour away.



Recreation & Entertainment

Restaurants can be found along Scottsville Rd. and the Main St. area, providing meals for locals who enjoy the idea that you can walk to the eateries from anywhere in the village. The Scottsville Ice Arena provides public skating and hockey programs for all ages.



Transportation & Traffic

Easily accessed from I-390, Scottsville has a series of main routes running through it - Rochester Street, Chili Avenue, River Road, and North Road. With several schools in the Village, roads can be heavily traveled at dismissal time, otherwise, traffic is rarely of any concern.



Pros & Cons

There is a quaint quality in Scottsville that makes visitors and newcomers feel right at home. It's a village made for walking, and locals enjoy strolling the sidewalks in all seasons. Most hate to leave for work or shopping essentials, but they often must do so.
